Potential dangers associated with inflatable pool toys

Every good thing does come at a cost- a cost that needn't be detrimental. We spend on specific things in order to get value for money. However, while the purpose of purchasing a pool toy might be pleasure inclined, there are certain risks that are sometimes associated with these items. These risks are often attributed to the chemical substances present in some of the toys.

For instance, studies have shown that inflatable toys made from polyvinyl chloride have the tendency of causing asthma, hormonal imbalances and nervous impairment, and this is due to the presence phthalates- a substance that is released from the toy upon frequent exposure to the sun or UV rays. This substance can get into the body either orally or intravenously. Coupled with this, some inflatable toys are known to contain substances that can cause irritation- these very ones are known to give off strong (repulsive) odour.

Apart from the dangers arising from the chemical composition of the materials used in making these toys, there is also that (danger) posed by substandard quality which could cause the toy to suddenly malfunction even while it is being used. There have been reports on how certain floatable toys put helpless persons- especially kids- in the danger of drowning on different occasions.
